The Young Investigator Award is given yearly at a special meeting of the Society. Candidates are asked to submit an abstract of their research following which the Society’s committee mark those abstracts in a blinded fashion. The top 3 are invited to give an oral presentation at our special meeting. Each presentation is expected to last approximately 15 minutes with about 10 minutes for questions. Each candidate is assessed by the committee. Marks are awarded on the style of the presentation and the quality of the slides. The academic rating is mostly (but not completely) assessed at the abstract stage. The top candidate on the day is awarded a cheque for £100. All three candidates are awarded a certificate.
